Halloween Photo-booth Fun

I hope you’re all having a fun Halloween!

This year I had to work with items I had in my closet for my costume since I didn’t have time to make a new one, but I was having a creative hair moment, and was able to pull together a “Heidi” inspired costume!

Camille and I invited some friends over for a costume party, and we set up a photo-booth so we could take lots of fun and silly pictures….

Here’s Elle dressed as a snowman, and Annie dressed as Blossom, the Powerpuff Girl:

Here’s Hadley the black cat, Astrid as Mary Poppins, and Macie the pirate:

Ruby and Camille have been doing some baby-sitting lately and are constantly singing Disney Junior songs, so naturally they wanted to dress up as Doc McStuffins and her favorite stuftie, Lambie!

Sonia went with a lovely masquerade look, and Meryl is looking fabulous as a movie star:

I had to take some pictures with my loving sister of course…. Clarisse and Camille

We’re certainly ready for a fun night, Happy Halloween!

Pinstripe and Plaid

Playing with color combos is always fun, but I decided to mix it up a bit with some patterns today too. A subtle pinstripe is easy to mix with other bolder patterns without being too hard on the eyes, so I went with this gingham top to add a mix of color and pattern to the outfit. It’s hard to believe September is just around the corner and full-length pants have come back into my life! I love shorts and skirts, but a nice pair of colored pants and jeans are wardrobe staples that I dearly miss over the steamy hot summer.

Floral and Gold

It’s a little soon for long sleeves, but I just love this floral top and couldn’t wait to wear it, so I decided I would manage the heat by just pushing the sleeves up. The 3/4 length purple pants complemented the look quite nicely, and some neutral/gold accessories were all I needed to complete the outfit! Camille helped me with the “Elsa braid,” which is one of her favorite looks now. I quite like it myself!

I managed to sneak outside in the few minutes that the sun decided to come out, but today was mostly another rainy day. After three in a row, it can get rather dreary, but it does keep me busy sewing inside without the lure of the sun wanting me to go out and play! That being said… the summer collection is coming along quite nicely, so I’ll be updating with more information about that on Monday. I also finished a different project this week that is long awaited for some of you… so be sure to check in for exciting news next week!

A tribal patterned skirt like this doesn’t need much to create a stylish outfit- a simple tee and a small necklace do the trick. I decided to have a little extra fun with my hair though, so I attempted this Elle Fanning-inspired look that I found on Pinterest. It was a little tricky with my thick hair, but I was satisfied enough with the result. On a side note- I’ve been working hard on the “How to Wear A Square Scarf” tutorial, so hopefully it will be ready in the next day or two!

Simple Yet Satisfying

Some days I’m all about the accessories, but today I just felt like I needed to be able to run around a bit with little fuss. A brightly colored pair of sneakers is always handy for these days, along with pigtail braids that keep your hair tidy while incorporating a playful look. I’m pretty sure that if I came across a playground in my wanderings today, I would jump on the swings, because this outfit makes me feel a little bit like a kid at recess, and I’m absolutely okay with that.

Simply Whimsical

This fanciful garden is not in bloom yet, but the entrance gate still made a fine place to pose. Something about the slightly rusty ornate iron gate made me feel as though I was walking into a slightly magical place, or should be wearing an elaborate gown fit for a medieval princess… maybe next time. For today, a simple dress and cardigan combo was fitting enough.

Show Time

I’m off to see the “Stars on Ice” show tonight! The Olympics really got me loving skating again, and I can’t wait to see what all the fabulous skaters will do! An ice show is kind of a weird thing to dress for, so I went with sort of a “festival” style look… I managed to wear the leggings from the AG skating outfit though, so that makes it appropriate, right? On a side note, I’m going out of town for an extended Easter break, but I will be back Wednesday! I may squeeze in an Easter post, but if you don’t hear from me, I’m probably too comatose from chocolate to feel like getting out for pictures.

Sleepover Party

Today is my sister Camille’s birthday, so we are having a party for her tonight! She’s having a friend sleep over and the theme is “snow day,” so we’re going to drink lots of tea and hot cocoa, make cookies, and play board games all night (Settlers of Catan anyone?). I’m most excited to finally give her my present, which I will share with you all tomorrow once she opens it. As for tonight, I’m well equipped for the theme with my cozy vintage sweater and polka-dot socks. Let the festivities begin!

Ballet for a Day

I may not actually do ballet, but my sister does, which means I can occasionally steal her ballet gear for the sake of fashion. While this “Isabelle” sweater works well for almost anyone’s style, I may have gotten a little carried away pairing it with pink leg warmers and a braided bun, which certainly don’t disguise its dance-wear inspired look. But hey, I’ll try basically any style, so add ballet to my list. My dainty little crystal necklace was a gift from a dear friend- doesn’t it add just the right touch of sparkle?
