Easy Breezy

It occurred to me today that I don’t often wear my hair completely down without even a bobby pin or a hat to top it off, so I decided to go au naturel with the hair today. It was a little challenging with the strong breeze (but who can complain about that when it’s been in the 90’s this week), but a few flyaways never caused any harm, right? I kept things simple with my outfit too, just focusing on a couple accessories and a simple color palette, but making sure I use some of my favorite summer items before it’s too late!

What I’m Wearing:
Top: Kit’s School Skirt Set
Skirt: La Poupee Bijoux
Shoes: Bitty Little Hearts Outfit (with heart removed)

Natural Neutrals

Bright colors are always cheerful and fun, but natural earthy tones are also great for a more calm and elegant look. This cute little necklace was a crafty find from Joann Fabrics: a pre-made strand of jewelry making beads with a simple clasp added to the end makes the perfect necklace with very little work! I just love it with this petite floral print dress, and with a natural colored straw hat, how can you go wrong?

Red-y for Summer

Close-up Full-shotBagSunglassesHair

Spring is zipping right by, and today it feels like summer! It helps that in a few days I will be heading off for a week-long beach vacation, which is definitely the best way to kick-off the summer. I was playing with a “red” theme today, and stumbled into the pairing of this ancient AG tank and this skirt that I recently purchased. Can you believe how perfectly they go together? It almost seems like the tank has been waiting all these years for its perfect match, and they have finally been united. It may just be my allergies kicking in, but I think I’m getting a little teary at this beautiful notion.

Sunshine and Daisies

I kept holding out yesterday, hoping that the dreary grey sky and rain would let up at some point to allow for decent pictures, but alas I was left disappointed. Today however, is a gloriously sunny and warm day! I was visiting with my friend Elle, and decided that she looked so put-together and stylish in her daisy-print dress and fabulous accessories, that she was more deserving of an outfit post than I was. She seemed to have fun posing for the camera- I think she’s a natural! I’m a little jealous of her pierced ears- I’ve gone to get mine done twice and chickened out both times. Third time’s a charm?

A Brief Wintermission

Full-shot Hair Skirt Close-up Shoes

Apparently the spring decided to take a little “intermission,” and allow winter to come back overnight with a fresh dumping of snow. I resolved to stay away from windows and remain in denial of this vicious attack on spring, and thankfully found that the sun had conquered and melted the snow by the afternoon. This is why I took advantage of the surprise beach day on Monday- you never know when winter might come back to haunt you. Long live the spring!

This is what I like to call 50% winter and 50% spring. I was going with an average of the weather yesterday (winter) and what it looked like it was going to be like today (spring) and I think it turned out to be a happy medium. You may be thinking, “it looks an awful lot like it is spring where you are,” but what you don’t know, is that I’m standing about a foot away from a long stretch of snow and ice that has refused to melt. That’s the magic of pictures- you only get to see what I want you to see….
