My brain is definitely in summer mode today! This fun pineapple top inspired my tropical-themed look, and now I feel like I should be off strolling the boardwalk by the ocean and drinking a smoothie! Pink and orange is such a great color combo for summer if you’re not afraid to be bold and have a little fun, and I think this outfit has just the right amount of neutrals to balance the bright colors.
Head over to the Clarisse’s Closet ETSY Shop at 8PM EST to shop for these and other new summer items!

Although I sadly cannot attend my beloved hometown’s event, I am dressing in honor of the “Hats Off to Saratoga” celebration weekend in Saratoga Springs, NY, which kicks off the thoroughbred racing season! There are always plenty of fun events and venues to explore, but my favorite part is the ladies hat contest at the race track, where everyone wears their most extravagant summer hats! While I don’t have a hat that compares to some of the outrageous ones that have appeared in the contest, my large-brimmed straw hat with its big ruffled flower seemed appropriate. I do hope to make it to the track at some point this summer!
I usually try not to overload you with too many photos of the same outfit, but with the sun gloriously beaming onto the porch this afternoon, I was having way too much fun posing for cool pictures and couldn’t choose my favorites. As for my outfit- I was in a sundress-y mood, so I started there and finally got around to wearing this snazzy fedora that has been waiting for the perfect outfit for its debut. I was very excited to see it in the AG catalog and it does not disappoint!
It seemed only appropriate that I let my friend’s pup (who I am pet-sitting today) join me for photos on this hot and humid day, as it could easily be mistaken for a mid-summer “dog days” scorcher! A wide-brimmed hat is a must for days like this when the sun is beaming down, and it paired so nicely with this summery halter tank, I just couldn’t resist. I’d call this another one of those “meant-to-be” pairings of 2 items from completely different places that just seem destined to be worn together. It’ll be a summer favorite for sure!
Bright colors are always cheerful and fun, but natural earthy tones are also great for a more calm and elegant look. This cute little necklace was a crafty find from Joann Fabrics: a pre-made strand of jewelry making beads with a simple clasp added to the end makes the perfect necklace with very little work! I just love it with this petite floral print dress, and with a natural colored straw hat, how can you go wrong?
We are thoroughly enjoying our time on the beach! Camille and I snuck away from the family for a few minutes yesterday evening to enjoy a little extra time in the sand while the sun wasn’t quite so hot and took a few pictures to share with you. The water is still cold this early in the year, but it’s nice for wading and swimmable for those brave souls who don’t mind the chill! I started playing around with making straw hats a few weeks ago, and made this one just for our beach trip. I just love how it turned out!

The “Vintage Pretties” line by Clarisse’s Closet brings the increasingly popular experience of vintage shopping to the 18” doll world. Each clothing and accessory item is made using primarily vintage fabrics and materials, and each has a one-of-a-kind vintage-inspired design, to emulate the vintage shopping experience. To debut the collection, we have assembled six ensembles featuring a dress and a coordinating accessory or two. These six outfits are listed on Ebay (click on the outfit pages below for auction links), but after the debut collection, the “Vintage Pretties” line will be sold in the Clarisse’s Closet Etsy shop. We look forward to how the line will develop, possibly expanding to offer individual clothing pieces and accessories in addition to complete outfits.
Ahh what a day for frolicking through the flowers and taking a rest under a tree that has finally begun to bloom. A big floppy hat is alway a great accessory for sunny days, and I just love the ruffly flower adornment on this one from the AG store. I also just picked these shoes up from Joann’s while I was getting some sewing supplies, as I thought they’d be perfect for pairing with many spring and summer dresses. Looking forward to more days like these!
What I’m Wearing:
You may not think you recognize this sweet straw hat, but it’s actually from a bitty outfit that I picked up yesterday at the AG store! I was cashing out and mentioned how much I love hats to the cashier, and she recommended this outfit (which happens to be on sale right now for only $19), and I was sold immediately. The shoes were a little too summery for today’s outfit, but they are adorable too and fit very well. I’m also sporting a new scarf, which I made from some vintage silk that I have in my stash. If it suits your fancy, you will be happy to know that similar items will soon be available in my Etsy shop with the upcoming release of a whole new line! Check back for more information later this week!
