It’s Spring! (I think)

After one more (and hopefully last) snowstorm last weekend, it’s finally starting to feel like Spring! It’s still a little nippy at times, so a hat and little mitts aren’t uncalled for, but we’re putting the winter coats away. I decided to play stylist today with Pippa because she was having a really good hair day (does she ever not?) while I’m still brushing out a stubborn braid perm, but I’ll be back in front of the camera soon. Plus I have some other fun posts planned for this month! Yay Spring!

In Bloom

Full-shot Close-up Close-up2 Under the Tree Under the Tree 2 Shoes

Ahh what a day for frolicking through the flowers and taking a rest under a tree that has finally begun to bloom. A big floppy hat is alway a great accessory for sunny days, and I just love the ruffly flower adornment on this one from the AG store. I also just picked these shoes up from Joann’s while I was getting some sewing supplies, as I thought they’d be perfect for pairing with many spring and summer dresses. Looking forward to more days like these!

It Takes Two

I was so caught up with working on my projects yesterday, that I never got around to doing a post. So, I asked Meryl to join me for photos today so I could make up for it by giving you a 2-for-1 post. The sun sure was shining bright today, and we enjoyed the balmy and almost humid weather! We sort of coordinated our color-scheme with some aqua, peach, and black, but we still came up with very different looks. Perhaps I will ask a friend to join me for photos again sometime, it was quite fun picking out outfits together!

Straw and Silk

Full-shot Full-shot2 Close-up2 Hat Close-up

You may not think you recognize this sweet straw hat, but it’s actually from a bitty outfit that I picked up yesterday at the AG store! I was cashing out and mentioned how much I love hats to the cashier, and she recommended this outfit (which happens to be on sale right now for only $19), and I was sold immediately. The shoes were a little too summery for today’s outfit, but they are adorable too and fit very well. I’m also sporting a new scarf, which I made from some vintage silk that I have in my stash. If it suits your fancy, you will be happy to know that similar items will soon be available in my Etsy shop with the upcoming release of a whole new line! Check back for more information later this week!

A 50’s Feeling

Full-shotClose-up Bag Shoes Hair

I was definitely feeling a bit of a 50’s vibe today with my pearls, pony-tail, and pedal-pusher pants. The outfit was mostly inspired by the bag though. This cute little tote bag was a gift from my grandma, who passed it along thinking it looked like something I might find useful (she was right). The beading design does remind me a little bit of a Christmas tree, but I love the colors of the beads and the fabric seems like it could almost pass for beach-y, so we’re saying it’s a spring bag (just go with it).

Coral Obsession

Full-shot Close-up2 Shoes Close-up3

Coral is definitely my obsession this season, and considering how easy it is to find right now (hello Isabelle’s coral sweater), it’s probably not just me. It somehow seems to go with almost any other color, and it’s so fresh and cheerful, I just can’t get enough! The problem is, there has to be a point when I do decide enough is enough, which will hopefully be before I spend my entire spring budget on things that are the same color. But hey, there have been worse fashion tragedies.

Top 5 Spring Must-Haves

If you enjoyed the “Holiday Must-Have” guide this winter, you may find this spring fashion guide helpful for your spring shopping! Here are my top five must-haves for spring, with links to some great examples that are available on Etsy!

1. Floral Print Dress
A floral print with is the #1 need for spring! Whether for an outdoor “garden party” event, or just a casual day in the sunshine, every girl needs a patterned spring dress!

Links to Listings: MandySewSweet, LoveEllieBean, KateLaurenDesigns, JazzyDollDuds, IndustriousDog, Closet4Chloe

2. Light Jacket
Spring clothes are wonderful, but sometimes it is just too chilly to wear a sleeveless or short-sleeved dress or top alone. A lightweight outer-layer is perfect to keep you warm, and add a little more style to your look!

Links to Listings: Just18Inches, BebeBijouBoutique, HoleInMyBucket, LoriLizGirlsandDolls, AccordingtoEmma, AngelKissesBoutique

3. Cropped Pant
Maybe it’s just me, but my obsession for spring is cropped pants. They don’t feel as restricting as full-length jeans, but are a little less summer-y than shorts. Plus, they often come in colors to add even more fun to your spring wardrobe!

Links to Listings: Exclusively18, GillyGals, SodaPopStreet, UnendingTreasures, dmucollections, ClarissesCloset

4. Spring Scarf
Everyone knows I’m an accessory girl, so I think a light-weight scarf is a staple for a stylish wardrobe! It’s a great way to add a little extra something to a simple outfit, or bring a great outfit to the next level!

Links to Listings: buttonandbowboutique, MadiGraceDesigns, timbledoodle, MyGirlClothingCo, InMarigold’sAttic, CircleCSewing

5. Flower Adornment
To add the finishing touch, choose an accessory that features the true sign of spring: flowers!

Pretty Pansy

Close-up Full-shot Boots Hair

A spring outfit is hardly complete without at least a trace of a flower somewhere. I inherited a fun bag full of hand-me-down fabric and sewing “do-dads” this weekend, and picked out this lovely purple pansy that I found in there for my hair today, to complement the purple embroidery on this skirt. Doesn’t it just add the finishing touch?
