Cropped pants are perfect for transitioning into the fall, as they won’t leave you shivering at a breeze like shorts but don’t feel as heavy as full-length pants. I was mimicking the cuffed pants by rolling up my sleeves too, and this lightweight vest is the perfect layer for a little more of a complete look. I took the idea of a “messy bun” to the extreme today- but when you have to run off to class, it’s a handy look when you don’t have time to fuss!
Playing with color combos is always fun, but I decided to mix it up a bit with some patterns today too. A subtle pinstripe is easy to mix with other bolder patterns without being too hard on the eyes, so I went with this gingham top to add a mix of color and pattern to the outfit. It’s hard to believe September is just around the corner and full-length pants have come back into my life! I love shorts and skirts, but a nice pair of colored pants and jeans are wardrobe staples that I dearly miss over the steamy hot summer.
This vest (actually the whole outfit that it comes with) has been on my wish list since the day it came out, but somehow it kept not coming home with me. It is one of the best potential mix-and-match outfits available from AG, so how could I keep ignoring it? At last I have added it to my wardrobe, which has never felt more complete. My necklace is another Joann Fabrics pre-made jewelry-making strand with a clasp added to the end; I have a feeling my necklace collection is going to grow significantly with this new discovery!
I like to tell myself that I don’t like pink and purple together anymore, because that is what I liked to wear when I was about 7, but I have come to realize that some days, it just happens. These purple pants refused to be paired with anything but this pink vest, so I gave in to it. Someday I might outgrow it, but maybe I won’t. And maybe I’m okay with that.
I never thought I’d be into the fur vest trend, but when I saw this one with a cute dress from Target, I couldn’t resist. I figured while I was at it with a statement vest, I may as well pair it with this adorably trendy oversized beret. At least it has all neutral colors, one of which somehow matches perfectly with my green/grey/artichoke/not-sure-what-color-to-call-it cords. And hey, since I made it this far, I may as well throw in some bold jewelry. I’m going to say my neutral color scheme balances out my trendy accessories, as long as we pretend not to notice the bright orange lining of the vest peaking out occasionally.

I’m almost almost ashamed of the title of this post. But I just couldn’t resist.
Today is not a fancy day. In fact, if I hadn’t gone out for a stroll this morning, I probably would not have left the house all day. I may or may not still be in turkey-coma. Thus: leggings, a thermal, a puffer vest, and a braid. It’s now officially December in my world, which means comfy and warm is the name of the game. At least until we get to holiday party time. And speaking of holiday… if you are ready for me to go full-blown holiday on you, check back tomorrow for a special holiday post that you won’t want to miss!
Even though winter technically begins late in December, psychologically for me it begins on the first of December. Nothing about December says it’s still fall. But, I had this great outfit planned and didn’t get to show it off yesterday, so put away those calendars, close your eyes, and dream with me of a world where there are 31 days in November. Is that the smell of fresh fallen leaves and leftover pumpkin pie? (Or probably just the smell of the Christmas tree strapped to the car that just drove by). Here’s one last fall outfit before I break out the coats, boots, hats and mittens. For today, rain-boots are sufficient to get through any slushy snow leftovers from last weekend, and a cozy ear-warmer and vest will keep me warm enough. *shivers*
